Reviews

‘This excellent latest installment in the Fiona Mason series finds Fiona and her charges on a tour Northern Ireland, where they become embroiled in the aftermath of an IRA assassination. Masterfully keeps us in suspense until the very end, where the outcome is satisfyingly unexpected, while weaving in Fiona’s developing relationship with Peter Montgomery-Jones.’

‘Highly recommended. An absorbing read in the tradition of the best mystery fiction.
Another satisfying novel from Judith Cranswick. It has plenty of bodies littering the pages as the plot twists and turns its way through the complexities of Northern Irish politics overlaid with history and geography.
Fiona's determined yet subtle questioning of her charges brings out their characters as peoples' emotions and motivations are revealed.
Fiona survives again and the relationship between her and Peter reaches an interesting point.
A dramatic twist at the end shows you can never trust Super Sun passengers!’

‘Fiona Mason, Travel Manager for Super Sun Tours, congratulates herself that her current crop of travellers to Northern Ireland doesn’t include the ‘difficult’ customer, that is the bane of her life. But when her most inoffensive and shy client winds up dead, she realises she had congratulated herself too soon. Was he just a victim of wrong time, wrong place? An innocent victim of a mugger? Or a not-so-innocent man who was caught up in Norther Ireland’s tortuous politics? Had he been using the ruse of his seemingly ineffectual personality as a blind for more deadly traits? Whichever, he’s still dead. And who had killed him?

With an IRA prisoner murdered, she begins to suspect that her happy band of travellers is being used to conceal the true killer in their midst. And when the shooting starts and yet more people wind up dead, Fiona grapples with the Northern Irish police to get to the truth.

Another great novel from Ms Cranswick. She weaves a clever tale amongst the fabulous backdrop of The Giant’s Causeway, the Antrim Coast, Stormont, and other splendours. Highly recommended.’

Blood Across the Divide The Fiona Mason Mysteries Book 5 edition by Judith Cranswick Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I really enjoy the Fiona Mason books, they are well plotted and the pacing is perfect. The situations are realistic and the relationship is continuing to evolve with Fiona and Peter. I loved every minute and stayed up too late finishing it up! I have lead group travel trips and so much of what is explained is exactly what happens with our groups. I am only sad that I have to wait for the next installment!
I received a free copy in return from my honest review and enjoyed it so much that I purchased it.
I highly recommend this series!

Blood Across the Divide The Fiona Mason Mysteries Book 5 edition by Judith Cranswick Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

The mark of a good mystery is looking forward to picking it back up again and trying to work out the end. I must admit that I am a fan of this series, and the new book maintains the high standard set by the others. Fiona Mason is once again in the middle of a web of intrigue that is made even more real by the incredible attention to detail of the locations. Judith Cranswick certainly can weave a good yarn, and I love the way that she gives us a glimpse of the characters at the beginning. If you haven’t read any of these books before, then this one is as good as any to start. I actually think the writer’s style has matured over the years and opening Blood Across the Divide was like greeting an old friend. Recommended 5-Star
Judith Cranswick’s tour guide-detective Fiona Mason is back for another tour with a busload of tourist-suspects, this time in Belfast and Northern Ireland. One of the tourists disappears the second day of the tour, shortly after an altercation with one of the others. An IRA activist is murdered in Belfast the following day and a couple of British Intelligence agencies are getting interested in whether the disappearing tourist might be involved. And we the readers are being treated to another very British whodunit murder mystery with spies, suspects, and scenery galore. This reviewer has been working his way through the series and greatly enjoy it despite its being a lot cozier than my normal fare. This entry doesn’t disappoint; we get to revisit old friends solving a new puzzle in an interesting place I’ve never visited. Recommended without reservations; this is one tour you can drop into at any time.

“Blood Across the Divide” sees former trauma nurse turned tour guide on a trip to Belfast and Northern Ireland. As luck would have it, the trip coincides with the murder of a Continuity Irish Republican Army leader, while in police custody. In the same time frame, one of the passengers on Fiona’s tour is also murdered, raising suspicions that the two murders may be somehow connected. MI5 and MI6 swing into action to contain the situation before it escalates into a political crisis.

Judith Cranswick’s novels combine a cozy mystery with a travelogue of interesting sites. Fiona provides interesting background material on the history, culture, industry, artistry and geology of the sites they visit.
Judith Cranswick keeps getting better with this series. This was my favorite. I enjoy learning about the places visited by Fiona's groups.
I have loved all five books. I was hooked at book one. Fiona, Peter and Winston were great together. Anxious to see where the story line was going. Expected Fiona and Peter to get together in book four. Only to be left guessing in book five. Is there going to be a sixth book...
Wanted to see them get together. All in all very enjoyable reading,
