Very helpful but would also recommend trying an online test simulator as the questions in the book are nothing like the test itself.Product details

CompTIA CTT+ Certified Technical Trainer AllinOne Exam Guide eBook Joseph Phillips Reviews
I got thrown off by the format of this book. It says Exam Guide in the title. I was anticipating that the book would follow a familiar format. Instead, I found the book wordy and rambling at times; more like someone standing in front of a class than a book. In some chapters I would get lost in his stories and then find out I had to digest a lot of concepts, and then find out later that those concepts don't even apply to the exam. His stories were fine, but they're not part of CompTIA's CTT+ certification. Make it obvious what's critical to know or change the book title.
The approach of the book is very intuitive and slowly it covers every aspect of the media, learning environment, language and many other.
There will be no secrets for the CTT+ trainee.
Not a great work. To start I did just take an pass the written portion of the exam. So... you might say it wasn't all bad. But I found the book amateurist; Phillips might be an ok speaker but I don't think he can write all that great. To be fair it might be he had a poor editor. There were typo's and errors in a couple of his quiz's at the end of chapters. He also mention's some things in his video's that aren't discussed in the book at all. An on one slide he completely changed the list of items that were part of a learning theory; from what was printed in the Book. The book seem to work pretty well in the iPad app. Few bugs probably the fault of Dev team; cause let's be honest there app needs some work. There's some points mentioned on the 2008 Objectives summary straight from CompTIA that Phillips doesn't talk about at all (example Merrill consulting how it affects group teaching). So I'd be prepared to look over the objectives and do some filling in with wikipedia. But keep it mind its all that's out there... that's approved by CompTIA's hired out exam certification team. Hope that helps. Oh forgot one asset is the sample test thru an online testing company. Now even though I think he wrote it... it seems a lot more professional than his other quiz's an stuff in the book... so that's a nice plus.
This book is a good place to start, but I could not have passed the TK0-201 (Essentials) exam with only with book. I still must take the TK0-202 exam, and I think this book will be an asset there. Since I need to create a recorded practicum that covers many areas, and this book lays out those areas, I think it will be a good asset. That and studying the few Youtube videos of folks who have already passed the TK0-202 exam. I will revise this review once I have passed the second exam and will let you know how much this book helped.
UPDATE 2/16/2014 - I passed the TK0-202 exam a few weeks ago. A lot of the content in the book that was focused on this second exam was accurate. I reviewed it, along with a number of other resources the morning I had scheduled my video shoot, and that review was useful. I think that if you are not doing this exam as part of a class or bootcamp, this book is a useful resource for the exam. I continue to think it should be a part of any self-learner's arsenal.
I wish there were better books and Courses on CTT+.
I ordered this product twice thinking the issue would be remedied with the second purchase, but both books came with CDs that didn't work, and I tried multiple computers.
Love this book! I am over half way finished with it and it has already more than paid for itself. While it is true I could have studied a bunch of "if ... then" scenarios and just regurgitated what I had learned in order to pass the test, I am thankful for the background Mr. Phillips has provided in this book. I will agree that this book may be wordy at times and goes beyond the objective of simply passing the CTT+ exam, although I would be ashamed to call myself a Certified Technical Trainer while never being introduced to some of the topics contained in this book such as the ADDIE methodology and Kirkpatrick evaluations.
Very helpful but would also recommend trying an online test simulator as the questions in the book are nothing like the test itself.
